"Why should I choose your services?"
We have no ads, no spam, no scaling (down-sampling) and other negatives. However, we have many great positives. If you give it a try, you will see that our team spends 24 hours a day, 7 days a week thinking about improvements and actually improving our services. We make an effort to fulfill our dreams through our site. Whenever you do not know how to use a feature or how to achieve something, all you need to do is create a ticket here and your questions will be answered as soon as possible by one of the members our support staff who are here just to help you. "What content may I upload?"
The simplest way to answer this question is to say that our site is family-friendly. We expect our users to behave according to this by not uploading vulgar or sexual content. For more information you should read the Terms of Use. "What are the limitations of a free account?"
The free account makes it possible for you to use of all of the features that BlueMelon has got to offer while restricting the storage space that you may use to 1 GB. There are some themes which are available only to the pro users. The free accounts are automatically closed after 6 months of no activity since we obviously cannot keep them all if they are not used. "What happens to my pro account when I cease to pay for it?"
An account user is notified two weeks before the account's expiry and the user is given two additional weeks after the account's expiry to renew the pro status. Unfortunately, we are forced to delete the account in case the status is not renewed thereafter because of the storage space costs. "Do people need to register to view my photos?"
No. It is not necessary to be registered to view the photos of a BlueMelon's user. The users have the same viewing rights whether they are registered or not. "How can I change the default avatar in the 'About Me' homepage section?"
"How can I change the cover image of an album or a category?"
To change any of the above : 1. open the chosen photo from within an album 2. point your mouse cursor at it to see a hammer icon 3. click this icon and choose the corresponding entry from the displayed menu - for album cover, "Use as Album Cover" ; for category cover "Use as Category Cover..." (You will be asked to choose a category.) ; for the avatar in 'About Me' section, "Use as My Portrait". "Heretofore, I have been using another photo sharing service (or have been using Facebook to share my photos) and want to use BlueMelon: does that mean that I have to upload all my photos again?"
That depends on which service you have been using. Check out the BlueMelon Importer while you are logged in to BlueMelon to see which services it is currently possible to import your photos from. (Facebook, Flickr, Picasa, Smugmug, et cetera) "I have uploaded my photos and have everything set up: how do other people get to view them?"
You may either provide them with the link to your homepage which is in the form of "http://www.bluemelon.com/your_nick" or you may provide them with links to your photos, albums or slideshows. These links can be obtained using the "Share" buttons accessible via the album and photo pages. "How can I make my photos private?"
The easiest way to do this is to choose the "Settings" menu entry from the "Tools" menu of your album and there you can find the check boxs of three possibilities (private, public, unlisted) - just check "private". From this moment on your album is only yours. There is another way for making individual photos private: you only need to open your photo, choose the tool labelled "Access mode" and check the second checkbox labelled "private". That is it. "How can I share my photos?"
When you create an album and upload some photos into it they automatically became published while you don't set the album settings or access mode otherwise. "What is the unlisted access mode?"
Checking this access mode means making your photos public but in an invisible way; nobody can see your photo (if checked on individual photo level) or your album (if checked in the settings of an album) either through search nor the album or name except you. "I can access my password protected albums without being asked for the password: how does this protect my photos?"
Check if you are logged out. BlueMelon never asks the album owner for the passwords, whence you have full access to your albums and photos while you are signed in. "I want just some people to view my photos: do I make the album 'unlisted' or 'password protected'?"
That depends solely on how you want them to access it: when using the "unlisted" access mode, you need to provide everyone who you want to access the photos with the link to the unlisted album - whoever should obtain the link will be able to view the album ; when using the "password protected" access mode, you need to give them just the link to the album or your homepage and the password. Either way you decide who gets the link in the former case and the password in the latter. "How can I speed up my uploads and downloads?"
You can resize your photos to a lower resolution. If you use BlueUpload Anywhere, click Upload, Preferences and choose the desired resize option and your photos will be automatically downsized before each transfer. Why is my homepage not showing any albums although I have created some already?
The most likely cause is that your albums' access-modes are set to either "private" or "unlisted". With the access mode being "unlisted", people may still view your photos if you provide them with the link to the album. If it is "private", only you - while logged in - may view them. "How can I close my BlueMelon account?"
If you no longer want your account on our site, you can close it in the My Account section. We'd be sorry to see you go. Do, please, consider sending us your feedback. If you have not found answers to your questions here
... try to read the full help or - if you have a problem - create a support ticket here while logged in. Alternatively, if you do not yet have an account, you may leave us a comment in the Your Feedback section |
